Clark Tracey - Drums
Son of illustrious father Stan Tracey, Clark had a strong musical upbringing starting out on piano & vibes then turning to the drums at the age of 13. He was soon joining Stan in various lineups and in that context Clark has toured & recorded extensively to the present day. In 1981 he formed his first group which featured Django Bates & Iain Ballamy. Later groups have included Guy Barker, Jamie Talbot, Nigel Hitchcock, Dave O'Higgins, Mark Nightingale, Julian Arguelles, Arnie Somogyi, Gerard Presencer, Alec Dankworth and Mornington Locket.

In 1983 when he formed his first quintet, he developed an important alliance with pianist Steve Melling, which has led to Steve's involvement in virtually every band of Clark's since then. Clark also composes & arranges and has received commissions for his own quintet, an octet shared with pianist David Newton and most recently an original piece for the Berkshire Youth Jazz Orchestra.

In addition, he has written, performed & recorded several string quartet arrangements for his wife, vocalist Tina May. He has twice been voted the British Jazz Awards 'Best Drums' category in 1993 & 1997 and has received endorsements from Zidjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks, Pearl Drums and Remo Drumheads. As a freelance drummer Clark has performed with virtually every important jazz artist in the UK and an ever expanding list of American & European visitors including Johnny Griffin, Plas Johnson, Harold Land, Charlie Rouse, Herb Ellis, Randy Brecker, Jimmy Smith, Dusko Goycovich and many more.
